THROUGH THE PARDON GROUP
RCMP-Accredited Digital Fingerprinting.
Muenz Criminal Law works closely with The Pardon Group, which is now RCMP accredited to provide digital fingerprinting and fingerprint-based criminal record checks.
How it works
Fingerprints, submitted securely to the RCMP.
Digital fingerprints are captured electronically and submitted securely to the RCMP’s Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services. Fingerprints provide the most accurate method of confirming identity and help prevent someone from being incorrectly associated with another person’s criminal record.
COMMON USES
When digital fingerprinting is required.
Digital fingerprinting may be required for:
- A Record Suspension application, formerly known as a Pardon.
- A United States Entry Waiver application.
- A Canadian citizenship application, when IRCC has specifically requested fingerprints.
- Employment or professional licensing.
- Federal government security screening or contracting.
- Adoption.
- A legal name change.
- Foreign travel, visas or work permits.
- A foreign police certificate or international background check.
- A Privacy Act request for your own RCMP criminal-record information.
Confirmation of identity following an inconclusive name-based criminal record check.
Permanent Resident status.
Volunteer employment.
Vulnerable sector checks.
The organization requesting the check should tell you what type of result is required and where the completed result must be sent. Please bring that request letter, reference number or application information to your appointment whenever available.
FORMAT
Which format do you need?
Most Canadian fingerprint-based criminal record checks are submitted electronically. Some foreign governments, American agencies, professional regulators and overseas licensing bodies still require traditional ink-and-roll fingerprints on a specific paper form.
Before booking, confirm with the requesting organization whether they need:
- Electronic submission to the RCMP.
- Ink-and-roll fingerprints.
- A particular fingerprint card, such as an FBI FD-258 card.
- Results mailed to you or directly to a third party.
- Authentication, notarisation or legalisation after the result is issued.
YOUR APPOINTMENT
What to bring.
When you attend your appointment, please bring:
- Two pieces of valid government-issued identification.
- At least one piece of photo identification.
- Any letter, form, file number or instructions supplied by the requesting organization.
- The complete mailing address for the person or organization that is to receive the results.
- Any required foreign fingerprint card.
Identification requirements and acceptable documents will be confirmed when your appointment is booked.
TIMING
How long an appointment takes.
A standard fingerprinting appointment generally takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Additional time may be needed for multiple fingerprint cards, unusual documentation, or more than one application.
RCMP processing and mailing times vary. The Pardon Group cannot guarantee when the RCMP or another government authority will complete or deliver a result
NOT SURE?
Send us the letter and we will point you in the right direction.
Fingerprinting requirements can be confusing. Before booking, send us the letter or instructions you received. We can help determine whether you require:
- Digital fingerprints through an RCMP-accredited agency.
- IRCC biometrics through Service Canada.
- A Calgary Police Information Check or Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Ink-and-roll fingerprints for a foreign authority.
